Bangor City Forest – Bangor, Maine Family Photography

Having a baby in the middle of the summer (photography season in Maine) isn’t quite ideal for my business. But life happens, and I’ve worked really hard this spring and early summer to fit all my sessions in before mid August when baby Alice is due to arrive. A couple weekends ago, I threw together a day of back to back to back sessions at the City Forest. This is one of my favorite places to take my kids and the dog especially in the fall when the bugs aren’t horrific!!

We started the weekend with my favorite girls Olivia + Sophia. They brought their parents along too for the buggy adventure. It’s taken Olivia a couple years to warm up to me, but after all this time (4 years) we are super BFFs. Sophia is still only 2, so she pretty much thinks I’m super crazy and wants nothing to do with me. Can’t say I blame her.

The next day started with my favorite accountant, Rachel Grass of Absolute Accounting and her gorgeous group of boys. Last November Rachel and Doug gave birth to their FOURTH boy!! Boy oh boy, I’ve NEVER met 4 more perfect boys – handsome, sweet, well behaved, polite, and super sweet to each other. I enjoy photographing this family, they are pure joy to be around.

Next up, new clients for EMP, but old friends – the Flagg family. Scott and Sarah have 4 beautiful children that are hysterically entertaining. We had a lot of fun making naughty noises and shouting out inappropriate names. I enjoy being around this family, they are so laid back, that they always look like they’re having a great time, and Sarah has a way of making it look like she always has it together!!

Later in the evening I met up with another new client, the Briggs family. Change of pace from the morning, with only one child, but her personality made up for it. She was so smart, sweet and funny I could’ve photographed her all day long. Her face is perfection, don’t you agree!!??

My next two sessions were both maternity session. Myself, Erin + Sara are all due in mid to late August and all three of us are having girls. Both families are past wedding clients too. I’m always delighted to continue working with couples and watching their families grow. It’s such a pleasure and makes me feel so fortunate that I have the job that I have.

Erin and Bart brought along their gorgeous chocolate labs, Jake and Oscar for the shoot. Sara + Chad brought along their ridiculousness and some 6 inch heels. See for yourself!

Erika + Andrew – Ellsworth and Brooklin Maine Wedding Photography

7.5.14 – Erika and Andrew had a perfect wedding planned. Maybe the weather didn’t quite cooperate the night before and that morning, but by the time the ceremony had started, we were in the clear. Tropical storm Arthur was not going to slow these families down. Sure, there wasn’t any power for the girls to shower and get ready in the morning. And who needs power for a reception when you can use a generator from a guest’s camper? I’ve never seen a group of people work so well and quickly together to get a bride ready for her wedding day. When the girls showed up just an hour before the ceremony started with soaking wet hair, they pulled together and were ready exactly on time looking absolutely perfect!

Erika and Andrew were married at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Ellsworth. It was a perfectly sweet ceremony, especially since the rain had stopped just minutes before it started.

After the ceremony and a few family photos, we headed off to Brooklin. I was totally unfamiliar with this area of our gorgeous state, and so excited to explore this part of the coast. The reception was held at the Erika’s parent’s summer home. They reside in Pennsylvania most of the year, while Erika and Andrew are in Texas serving our country. It was a fairly small tented reception with around 60 guests almost all of which were from out of state. Thankfully the weather decided to cooperate to show off our beautiful coastline with a spectacular sunset!

I loved the romantic and patriotic color theme that Erika chose. A subtle mix of red, white and blue throughout the reception was a perfect compliment to their military background.

Erika’s father shared a box of the most beautiful and huge cigars with the guys (and Erika). Somehow Erika even looked adorable pretending to smoke a cigar. She literally could do ANYTHING and still look fantastic!

Here are some reception highlights (indlucing Pat, the best man, eating the best kind of Pop Tart!!!)

Congrats to you Erika + Andrew, thanks for having me along for the fun!!

Ford Family – Orono, Maine Family Photography

You may remember Pam + Brendon from their March wedding blog post. Gorgeous sunny winter afternoon, the day after a HUGE snow storm! While Pam and I were in planning mode during the winter months, we had already set up a date for a family session in the summer. Pam + Brendon have the most precious two and a half year old, Sophia, who is a bundle of cuteness and spunk that I adore! She did a lot of helping me during our family shoot by taking a lot of photos of mom and dad (these one’s for example – she’s actually kind of good!!!)

I think we all had a spectacular time togegtehr. We saw frogs and chipmunks and ran around for a solid hour and a half. I know Sophia wore me right out (I slept like a baby that night) and hopefully I did the same for her.

Shelby + Jared – Orono, Maine Maternity Photography

Check out this gorgeousness!! Shelby was around 32 weeks pregnant at our session with her first baby, and she looks absolutely radiant. I had planned to post this blog today, but it’s even more perfect since their baby girl Makenna was born last night!! Congrats to you guys!

We of course had to include Emma + Moxie, the 2 biggest but most awesome dogs ever. I thought we’d get ourselves kicked out of the gardens at the college because of these two beasts, but we got lucky and they were good girls.

I’m beyond excited to meet baby Slaeunwhite in the next week or two. Not gonna lie, I’m a bit jealous because I wish my due date was this week, not 4 weeks away!

Congrats on your beautiful baby girl Shelby + Jared! Couldn’t be happier for you both!!

McNutt Family Session – Orono, Maine Family Photography

When I suggested doing Kristen, Josh + baby Lily’s photo session at the University of Maine botanical gardens, Kristen immediately agreed with excitement. Josh had proposed to Kristen in the gardens a few years earlier, so it seemed pretty perfect!! I had the pleasure of shooting their wedding in 2010 – GREAT WEDDING!!! This couple is an absolute riot! I’ve enjoyed working with them for years, and couldn’t be happier for the two when they announced they were pregnant last summer. In the fall we did a maternity shoot when Kristen was 7 months pregnant. Seriously, she looks like she 4 months pregnant, right?! Here’s a couple shots from their not so serious baby belly session! Kristen has a hard time taking anything seriously, it’s what I love most about her!!

In December, sweet baby Lily was born. She is Josh’s mini-me and absolutely perfect!! We intended on doing a newborn session around Christmas, but somehow it just never worked out. By the time we coordinated something, Lily was already 6 months old (my absolute favorite baby age to photograph!!) So we met at the University of Maine in Orono, and had a wonderful time catching up.

This was probably one of my favorite sessions from this season. I just love this family, and they couldn’t love that little girl more. It was a pleasure shooting their very first family photos, and I hope to do it a million more times!! Congrats to you guys and your beautiful little angel!!
